Introduction

The Quantum IoT Platform offers you multiple ways to talk to existing IoT Platforms in your house. They are called gateways and can be installed through the Library.

We will extend the number of platforms support by the system as part of future releases.

How does a Gateway work?

Gateways in general add devices to your system that you can then interact with. Devices are usually defined by a set of hardware. So let’s say you connect the SmartThings Gateway all the SmartThings devices will be added to your Q-Server so that you can interact with them the way you are already familiar with. Gateways are deeply integrated in your Q-Server so that you can use third party devices just like you are using Q-Clients.

Setup Gateways

Every Setup is different you can find guides to each Gateway right here inside the Documentation.
The general process is:

  1. Activate gateway from the Store site

  2. Enter setup parameters

  3. Devices appear in your device list

  4. Done! You can now map your newly added devices to existing Apps or create new ones

To map the client you need to add hardware to your application. Inside the debug overview, which you can reach from the clients view, you can find out what hardware your gateway device comes with.
