Use Samsung Smartthings with Quantum

Setup

This tutorial will show you how to setup the Quantum SmartThings Gateway

What you will need

Creating API Token

In order for the Q-Server Central Core to send commands to the SmartThings devices, you’ll need to create a API Token.

Navigate to https://account.smartthings.com/tokens and sign in with your Samsung Account if asked.

Click “Generate new token”, enter a name for the token and select the following permissions:

  • List all Devices

  • See all Devices

  • Control all Devices

  • See all Locations

Click “Generate token”. Be aware that the displayed token will be only visible once, if you need it a second time make sure to write it down or create a new one next time.

Keep this page open or write down the API Token, as we need it for setting up the gateway.

Activating the SmartThings Gateway

Navigate to the Library on your Q-Server Central via the toolbar on the left hand side of your screen.

Next, click on the Gateways Tab.

Hit the Download button beneath the SmartThings gateway. You should receive a notification that the SmartThings Gateway has downloaded successfully.

Again, using the toolbar on the left hand side of the screen navigate to the Gateways page and select the Start function from the Actions drop down menu.

Step 1 - Enter your Samsung Account credentials, along with the API Token you created earlier:

Be assured, we will only save your API Token, as the Samsung Account credentials are only used for setting up the integration. When you restart the gateway, you will have to supply the credentials again.

Hit Next and wait for the Setup to process to Step 2. Select the Location and the SmartThings Hub, you want to integrate into the Quantum IoT-Platform:

If you are unsure about those values or have multiple different ones, verify your selection with the SmartThings App.

Hit Next and wait for the Setup to process to Step 3. Finally activate the Gateway:

Now open the SmartThings/ SmartThings Classic App and select SmartApps from you the Location Options:

Press Add SmartApp and select the Quantum Gateway from the custom SmartApps. It should be located on the bottom.

Now select the devices you want the Q-Server Central Core to receive notifications for. This is just for receiving updates on states, like a press on the SmartThings Button. Controlling devices, like a light will work regardless.

Select the Quantum Bridge under Notify this Bridge:

Press Done. You should see the Quantum Gateway as running SmartApps:

The SmartThings Gateway is fully configured now.

Navigate to your Clients page to see a list of all of the SmartThings devices that are connected to your system.
