If you are interested in connecting your system to various existing sources like Alexa or Phillips Hue you should use the button below to go to the gateway setup screen. You will be able to setup all kinds of integrations and use them to control your devices.

Gateways in general add Devices to your system that you can interact with. Devices are usually defined by a set of Hardware. So let’s say you connect the Smartthings Gateway all the Smartthing Devices will be added to your Q-Server so that you can interact with them the way you are already familiar with. Gateways are integrated in your System so that you can use Third party devices just like the Q-Clients.

Setup Gateways

Every Setup is different you can find guides to each Gateway right here inside the Documentation.
The general process is:

  1. Activate gateway from the Store site

  2. Enter setup parameters

  3. Devices appear in your device list

  4. Done! You can now map your newly added devices to existing Apps or create new ones

Tips:
To map the device you need to add hardware to your application. Inside the debug overview that you can reach from the device view you can find out what hardware your gateway device comes with.

Difference to Service

  • Services are very specific. They interact with external resources like voice recognition, Databases, Weather Services, SMS Messaging services and others

  • Gateways add Devices to your System - Services do not

  • For Services you can find specific Objects inside the Application builder - Gateways just use the the general hardware library that the Q-Clients also use.
