Today we are going to show you how to import and export application and firmware files on the Q-Server.

Getting Started

To get started we want to download the application and firmware json files from a project you can choose. We will give an example based on the . Every project in our documentation has a “Resource” section where you can find the necessary files.

At the bottom of every project you will have the supported files and fritzings ready to download. Click on the file and then on the little cloud symbol in the top right corner in order to download the file on your computer.

Importing Files

Once you have downloaded the files you wish to use, go back to your Q-Server and click on the Apps icon.

Select the import button at the top next to the “+ Create New” button.

A window will open. Select “Copy from File” and select the application file you downloaded before.

It will copy the code for that file and will implement the App into the Q-Server. After you clicked open and import the Joystick application should appear on your screen.

To check whether the application import worked or not, click on the three dots on the right side and select “Edit”. You should see multiple Objects connected to each other.

Next we are going to import the downloaded firmware files. Click on the firmware icon on the left side. It is the same importing process as for the application file we did before, so just follow the same steps and you should be good to go.

Exporting Files

If you want to share your files with others or save them somewhere else, you can export your firmware and application files easily. Click on the desired file to export.

Hit the three dots below Actions and a menu will open. Select export.

It will bring up the json file with the code in it, click on “Download JSON”. Select the desired place you want to save your file and you are done.

The same applies for the export of application files. Go to the Apps menu and select the three dots and do the same steps as for the firmware file described above.

Backing up all your files

Lastly we will show you how to back up all your firmware and application files with just a couple clicks. You want to do this periodically just in case your Q-Server needs to be “Factory-Reset” or something else happens to your Server. In order to back up all your files, click on the settings icon in the top right corner.

Select system actions and scroll down to “Download Backup”.

Click on “Download” and a Zip file will appear in the 'Downloads' section of your OS.

When you open the Zip file, you should see a list of all the apps and firmware files of your Q-Server.

That’s how you import and export firmware and application files on the Q-Server. We hope this is usefull for you and happy making!
