The Q-Server Factory Reset is a powerful tool to wipe clean your Q-Server and return it to it’s default settings.

What is the factory reset?

Resetting your Q-Server can have various reasons. Most common reason is because you forgot your pin code to access your Q-Server. Sometimes you also want to wipe your system before transferring ownership of the product or you just want to do a little spring cleaning. We will go over what to do before factory resetting , the different ways you can factory reset and then how to do the initial setup again after it”s factory reset.

Backing up your files

If you are still able to access to your Q-Server will try to save our most important files. We will start by backing up all our app and firmware files. As you can see we have multiple firmware and app files we want to save before a reset.

We will export the files first and later after the reset we can import them back on the Q-Server. We will start by backing up the firmware files one by one.

Click on the three dots below the Actions menu and select “Export”.

If you just want certain firmware or app files this is the go. If you just want to export all the files you have and don’t want to select specific ones, there is a faster way than selecting and exporting each of them one by one.

Go to your Q-Server Settings in the top right corner. Select “System Actions” and scroll down until you see the “Download Backup” section. If you hit the download button the system will automatically create a zip-file of all your apps, firmware and settings files of your Q-Server.

When you open the downloaded zip-file you will see all your apps and firmware files as .json files.

UI Reset

There are two ways to factory reset your server. The first way is to reset it on the ui of the Q-Server. You go to the settings again. Move to “System Actions” and scroll down until you find the “Factory Rest” button. The system will ask you whether you really want to reset your Q-Server.

The Q-Server will then automatically reset itself and you can start the set up of your Q-Server again.

Physical Reset

The other way to reset your Q-Server is to physically push a button of your Q-Server to start the resetting process. This method is used if you can’t access the ui on your Q-Server. To do this you take a push pin or the end of a male jumper wire also works. There is a small slot left of the status LEDs if you look closely.

Insert your pin into slot and then hold down that reset button for at least 10 seconds. When the status LED of your Q-Server turns solid red the reset process has started.

Initial Setup

Once the status LED is blinking green, the Q-Server is ready for the quantum setup.

Go to your Wi-Fi settings of your computer and select the “QuantumSetup”. If you don’t see the setup wait a little longer or reset the server another time. When you see the setup simply click on it to connect with the Q-Server.

A pop-up menu will appear and you are prompted to connect the Q-Server with your Wi-Fi network again.

Select your Wi-Fi network and type in the password and the Q-Server will do the rest for you.

If you don’t see this page go to your web browser and type in 192.168.42.1. The setup page should appear.

Once you filled out all the information necessary to connect to your Wi-Fi you can type into your browser “cloud.quantumintegrate.com”.

Log into your account to get the IP-address for your Q-Server.

Click on open to get to your Q-Server or simply type in the IP address into your web browser. Once you have done one of the steps the initial setup of the Q-Server begins. You are going to create a pincode. We recommend to write down that pincode somewhere safe in case you don’t remember it.

Next step is to connect the server with your quantum cloud account by typing in your credentials and password.

Select your country and time zone.

Next you can select a developer mode and a report errors. Developer mode will allow you to use every aspect of the Q-Server and even get access to the newest objects. Sending error reports is also recommended because it will help us to make your experience better if you encounter any type of error with the Q-Server or the System overall.

Once you finished the settings click on “Get Started” and you will get back to the homescreen of your Q-Server.

Import backed up files

The Q-Server is returned to its default settings. Now we want to import the files from the zip file from the beginning. You can import every file one by one by going to the Apps tab or Firmware tab and clicking on the “Import” button next to “+ Create New”. Click on “Copy from File” and select your desired apps and firmware you want to upload. Make sure you are in the right tab!

Unfortunately there is currently no way to import all files at once, but there will be an option in the future.

So this is how you can easily factory reset and upload your backed up files back on your server.

Happy making!
